The sporting world went into mourning today with the rugby fraternity hit hard by the news of former All Black wing Jonah Lomu’s passing.

Many have credited Lomu with advancing rugby to the game it is today and the tributes from former teammates and opposition players, some of whom bore the brunt of Lomu’s bulk when he hit full speed, poured in throughout the day.

As a fitting tribute to one of the best players that rugby has ever seen, and who holds the joint record for most tries scored at a World Cup, Wesley College – Lomu’s alma mater – performed a haka in his honour. An image also surfaced of Lomu’s dominance of the school’s athletics records.

Another haka resurfaced today as a result of the sad news except that this one features the big man himself performing the time honoured tradition in London during the World Cup, won by New Zealand, a couple of weeks ago.

It’s also reminded me of the haka below, performed by schoolboys after the passing of a teacher. Goosebump stuff.
