Nike Football presents training session with Keagan Dolly

14 novice footballers gathered at the Nike Football Training Center in Soweto on Sunday night for an exclusive training session with South African national U23 football captain and Mamelodi Sundowns wing, Keagan Dolly. The young players were selected for the opportunity to train with one of the country’s best football talents through the Nike Football #TrainWithKeagz social media campaign.

Keagan was assisted by legendary Coach Arthur ’10111’ Zwane as he led the youngsters through a series of his own training drills and shared his training advice with them.

“This is an initiative between myself and Nike to inspire the next generation of football players in South Africa,” says Keagan. “Throughout the session tonight I shared with them what I know and hopefully they will take that with them into their careers. The most important thing I wanted them to realise is that being a great player is not just about the 90 minutes on the field, it’s about the hours you spend training to get there. You must work hard even when no one is watching.”

The players who participated in the training belong to established outfits including Mpumalanga Black Aces, Randburg FC and Jomo Cosmos.

The young players were thrilled to spend an hour putting their skills to the test with their footballing icon and were inspired by his commitment to training. “This was a great opportunity to train with and learn from one of SA’s best footballers and I was able to ask Keagan for advice on my training that will help me become a better player and hopefully I can follow in his footsteps one day” says Karabo Moroholo from Mpumalanga Black Aces NFD (National First Division) team.
