Music, one of life’s necessities. Imagine heading on a roadtrip without tunes. Or trying to get through a gym workout without an epic playlist. Let’s face it we all need music in our lives. Sometimes for celebrations, other times for sorrow. Either way, it helps.

Here are three epic YouTube channels that I’ve stumbled upon. It’s easy to get lost for a couple of hours sifting through these. They’re also great for background noise when trying to get things done at home. So in no particular order……

Mahogany Sessions

The place to go and look for some amazing vocalists. The likes of Hozier, Bastille, George Ezra and Rag ‘n Bone Man have all featured in these incredible videos. They’re also shot in amazing locations. Abandoned buildings, museums and other venues that assist with great acoustics are all used. You can find out more about them by heading to their website. 

This video of Jacob Banks covering Say Something is one of the many reasons why you need to hit the subscribe button on this channel. It’s also had nearly five million views.

Jam In The Van

This channel is great for finding new music and artists. As the name suggests it’s literally bands having a jam session inside a van.

It all started in 2011 with the founders tapping into their love of music festivals but has blown up and now has new sessions every day of the week. The biggest thing that comes through in all the videos posted on their channel is that the bands involved are all just having the best time. Their mobile recording studio is also solar powered which seems pretty cool. You can hit their website to see more.

Tiny Desk Concerts

Another series that been able to feature some seriously big-hitters in the music business. And there’s also loads of variety with the likes of Erykah Badu, T.I and Yo-Yo Mah, the celebrated cellist. They’re described as ‘a series of intimate concerts filmed at the desk of All Songs Considered Host Bob Boilen’.

NPR stands for National Public Radio and their website says that their mission is “to work in partnership with Member Stations to create a more informed public — one challenged and invigorated by a deeper understanding and appreciation of events, ideas and cultures.”

Probably being a bit biased here because Mac Miller is one of the faves in our household but his Tiny Desk Concert is well worth watching.
